Nebbiolo Madness Sample Itinerary
SEVEN DAYS | SIX NIGHTS
START AND FINISH: MILANO

9 - 15 June 2025
Day 1 VALTELLINA
We’ll meet at a central location in Milano, board our spacious and comfortable shuttle and drive off toward Valtellina. Our first stop will be at a family- run winery to get our pallets ready for the week to come. After this winery visit we will make our way for a typical lunch.
Afterwards we will check into our hotel where we will be staying for the next two nights. Located on Lago di Como with its splendid views of the water, we will enjoy our evenings in peace and tranquility.
The first nights dinner will be a bit easier than the rest of the week, to give us the chance to get a good night sleep. During this dinner I will give you an over view of the area, the things we are going to be participating in, as well as some fun stories about the area and the importance of the slope and soils of Valtellina.
Day 2 VALTELLINA
This day we are going to explore the Valtellina region full on. We are going to visit a winery in the morning, have a chance to walk through the vineyards, and admire the trellising, and slope of the region.
Lunch on this day will be on the lighter side as we will get to taste some of Valtellina’s specialties. And learn a bit about the food culture of the area.
After we will talk about the birth of Nebbiolo, where we think its roots are from, and deep dive into a tasting of different cru’s, clones, soils, and exposures.
This will then be followed by a short break back at the b&b and then we will walk to dinner in the town.
Day 3 ALTO PIEMONTE
We will wake up check out and take off for another full day of wine tasting.
On this day we will say good bye to Lombardia and hello Piemonte. The kingdom for Nebbiolo.
The morning drive will be a bit longer than the other transfers we will do during this trip.But have no fear, we will make it in time to enjoy an introductory tour and tasting of our first Alto Piemonte winery.
After we will stop for a very special lunch.
From there a second winery visit before checking into our new hotel, where we will plan to spend the next two nights.
At dinner time you will have this evening free to wander around the town of Biella and grab something of your liking for dinner.
Day 4 ALTO PIEMONTE
Today we will plan to visit two other wine making areas, as well as cross over the border to another region. We will talk about the differences in the trellising today, and why they are so heroic. Lunch will be in a really cool old school ciabot, historically used for aging of cheeses and meats, and well, lunch will have to be such!
Day 5 Langhe
On this day we will leave a bit early to head to our next destination, Le Langhe
But before we do so, we will stop to taste and talk about the Nebbiolo grape and some other family members to Nebbiolo in the Monferrato area.
Lunch will be in the home of a local, where we will eat drink and be merry.
After this lunch we will make our way to the area of Barbaresco for a second winery tasting before checking into our new hotel.
Dinner will be pizza tonight, you must have one pizza night. No?
Day 6 Langhe
This day we are going to focus on Barolo all day long, with a winery visit in the north of the region, a lunch stop, a quick stop to an enoteca for some more tasting, then off to a second winery visit in the south part of the area.
Dinner tonight will be a big party, in a winery where we will get to taste some more but with food paired with it.
Day 7 Back to Milano
You will check out late morning from your hotel to head back to Milano. One more cappuccino before we say arrivederci
